Conference Focuses on Sport in the Global South

Further solidifying its standing as a global leader in sport and leisure history, as well as in sport and leisure studies, Mason is hosting the Second Annual Sport in the Global South Conference in the Johnson Center this week, Nov. 12-15.

The conference is examining such issues as power relationships in global sports, infrastructure and opportunities, with presentations by scholars from around the world. Mason’s Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society and the Academy of International Sport are presenting the conference in collaboration with the School of Recreation, Health and Tourism in the College of Education and Human Development and Latin American Studies.

John Nauright and David K. Wiggins co-direct the Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society, and Nauright directs the Academy of International Sport.
