George Mason University makes its mark in the world with the recent release of the prestigious 2014 Academic Ranking of World Universities by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

George Mason is ranked 151-200 in the world and 65-77 in the United States, out of 500 global universities listed in the rankings. Mason is among four Virginia institutions, including the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Virginia Tech.

In the field of social sciences, Mason is ranked 48th in the world. In economics/business, Mason is in the 51-75 worldwide ranking.

The rankings focus on four areas: quality of education, quality of faculty, research output, and per capita performance. For more information about Mason’s standings, please click here. The Center for World-Class Universities began its ranking system of the top 500 global universities in 2003, basing the rankings on transparent methodology and reliable data.

Shanghai lists the first 50 rankings individually and thereafter lists them in groups. Therefore, if Mason is ranked 51-75 for economics/business, it is included with 24 other institutions.
