George Mason University has hired noted government contracting CEO and former U.S State Department official John Hillen as executive in residence and professor of practice for the School of Management.
Hillen, a former assistant secretary for political-military affairs for the U.S. Department of State, has led four defense and intelligence technology firms in Northern Virginia, most recently as president and CEO of Sotera Defense Solutions, where he is now the company’s vice chairman.
“The School of Management and George Mason are uniquely connected in myriad ways to the innovation engines of the economy in the Washington, D.C., area,” Hillen says. “I’m excited to be a part of that.
“The school’s commitment to leadership in the community as well as academic excellence and expertise in the government contracting space make it a singular leader in business and executive education for the key industry in our area.”
