Senior of the Year Wins Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award

Quoc “Ricky” Tran, who graduated from Mason in May with a bachelor’s degree in economics, was selected as the winner of the spring 2013 Graduate Scholar Award from the Golden Key International Honour Society, the world’s largest academic honor society for college and university students.

The Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award supports members’ postbaccalaureate study at accredited universities throughout the world. Tran was awarded a $10,000 scholarship.

Tran’s scholarship will go toward a doctorate program in pharmacy at Shenandoah University, which he will begin in August.

At Mason, Tran was named the 2013 Senior of the Year. He also served as president of the Mason chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society and as a Council of Student Members representative for Golden Key International.

Since 1977, Golden Key has recognized over 12 million graduate and undergraduate students in the top 15 percent of their class and has awarded over $10 million in scholarships and awards to its members.
