logolargeJust weeks away from their official entrance into the Atlantic 10 Conference on July 1, the George Mason men’s and women’s basketball teams now know who they will face when they enter the league, as the A-10 officially released the basketball conference schedule pairings this week.

For the men, the pairings, which are for the 2013-14 season only, include home-and-home series for the Patriots against Duquesne, George Washington, Saint Louis and Massachusetts.  In home action at the Patriot Center, the Mason men will welcome Dayton, Richmond, St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph’s.

Road trips to Fordham (Bronx, N.Y.), La Salle (Philadelphia), Rhode Island (Kingston, R.I.) and longtime rival VCU (Richmond) await the Green and Gold in their inaugural season of Atlantic 10 play.

All 13 members will compete for the Atlantic 10 title, with the conference championship being held once again at the state-of-the-art Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., from March 13-16, 2014.

The women will host eight Atlantic 10 Conference opponents in the Patriot Center in the upcoming season.  The league’s 13 members will play a 16-game conference schedule, allowing teams to face each opponent once and four teams twice.

The pairings feature home-and-home series for the Mason women with Dayton, La Salle and local rivals George Washington and Richmond. Additionally, the Patriots will welcome Duquesne, Saint Joseph’s, Saint Louis and Massachusetts to Fairfax during the season.

The road portion of the schedule includes trips to Fordham (Bronx, N.Y.), Rhode Island (Kingston, R.I.), VCU (Richmond, Va.) and St. Bonaventure (St. Bonaventure, N.Y.) in addition to Dayton (Dayton, Ohio), La Salle (Philadelphia, Pa.), George Washington (Washington, D.C.) and Richmond (Richmond, Va.) based on the home-and-home series.

The Mason teams’ nonconference schedules will be released later this summer, while the complete schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later time.
