For the third time this season, the George Mason men’s volleyball team has swept the EIVA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Senior Javier Perez was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, while classmate Max McFarland was named the Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first selection this season for both. Mason also swept honors the week of February 11 (Mark Jones and Piotr Dabrowski) and March 11 (Mark Jones and Pat Sibley).

Perez set the tone for the Mason offense in a 2-0 weekend over EIVA opponents Sacred Heart (3-2) and Harvard (3-1). Playing the opening three sets at Sacred Heart, Perez dished out 21 assists as the Patriots rallied from an 0-2 set deficit to win the set, 3-2. At Harvard, he had a match-best 49 assists and helped the Patriots hit .324 on the day as they took the regular season series over the Crimson.

McFarland played a key role in Mason’s 2-0 weekend, tallying a match-high 17 digs in the Patriots’ win at Sacred Heart before following that performance with a match-best 18 digs in the win at Harvard.

The Patriots will take a week off before concluding regular season EIVA play at Princeton on April 20.
