It’t back to Fairfax for the second game in the Collegiate Basketball Invitational after a 81-73 loss to Santa Clara. Photo courtesy Mason Athletics

The George Mason men’s basketball team dropped the first game in the best-of-three series against Santa Clara, 81-73, on Monday at the Leavey Center in California in the Collegiate Basketball Invitational presented by Buick championship finals.

Junior Jonathan Arledge scored the team-high 21 points for the Patriots, while Kevin Foster of the Broncos led his team with 28 points.

The teams head back to Fairfax for the second game, which will be played on April 3 at 7 p.m. at Mason’s Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC) gym. If a third game is needed, it will be played on Friday, April 5,  at 7 p.m. at the Patriot Center.
